Expressive writing is used in many therapeutic and rehabilitative settings; participants work through emotions in a safe and creative environment, and experience a myriad of benefits. There is empirical evidence that shows that this type of writing decreases physical symptoms, strengthens the immune system and increases life satisfaction.
I bring writing for healing workshops to drug and alcohol rehabilitation centres and psychiatric units, using writing prompts to help clients and patients capture their experiences in poetry and prose.
Caregivers also benefit from my writing workshops designed to help them work through the emotional challenges of supporting others.
I’m currently teaching at Pacifica Treatment Centre and Surrey Memorial Hospital (Adolescent Psychiatric Unit, Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Stabilization Unit and Adolescent Day Treatment Program).
