Hello! I’m Taslim – the introverted mom of 3 children (which can get interesting), lit-lover, and lifelong learner behind the blog. There are many facets to who I am and that is reflected in the diversity of my business. From the topics I write on to the ways I work with words – all of these keep a different part of me happy.
I’m a freelance writer for various print and online publications. I love to inspire my audiences, and whether I’m writing about multicultural connections, parenting or authentic living, my writing is from the heart. Immersing myself in literature, conducting interviews, and making real-life connections fuels my work.
I’m also a freelance editor. What I love most about my editing life (besides catching grammatical errors) is brainstorming relevant and timely content, and helping people share their stories. It’s a thrill to work with courageous people who are willing to put themselves out there; coaxing their story out and helping them shape it is my favourite part.
Because I love storytelling and believe, like Zora Neale Hurston, that “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you,” I teach expressive writing and memoir writing classes through Semiahmoo Arts and North Van Arts. My students are adolescents receiving medical attention for psychiatric issues as well as adults in the general community.
What’s On My Site?
I love this space where I can share original blog posts with you. You can also check out my Portfolio where you’ll find some select samples of my print and online editorials. My Recent Publications page is constantly updated with my freelance articles, allowing you to visit my partner sites and check out new content.
My Favourite Part About Blogging
I’ve been blogging since 2011 and I have to say that, aside from launching me into a full-time writing career, the community I have built and the friendships I have made through it are invaluable to me. Sharing stories is always about crossing paths and making connections. Not only have I made a career out of it, but a fulfilling life as well.
