You may have heard on my Facebook page that my youngest has just started part time daycare. It’s only the first week so I’m just getting used to it (i.e. I keep having panic attacks when I go to talk to her or reach for her in the backseat of the car and she isn’t there!). Primarily we made the decision to put her in daycare so that I could have a little more space and time to grow, personally and professionally. There were a lot of self-care promises to myself that I couldn’t meet (you know, like that little life-enhancing thing called exercise) plus, though I’ve been a little quiet on the blog lately, I’ve been working on something offline that I hope to share with you in the months ahead. Something that requires my full attention when I am working.
Not like this.
Being the first week without some time to myself, I’ve had to mindfully add in ‘just for me’ items to my to-do list. Because I might as well start this off right! Form some habits and mindsets from the get go.
So for today’s #3ThingsThursday linkup hosted by Pink Chai Living, Love Laugh Mirch and The Write Balance, I’m sharing with you 3 things I did for myself today. If you’re a blogger and want to link up, just check out the hosts’ websites and add your link!
One: I got my step on!
Yes! I made it to the gym – during the day! I am so much more energetic during the day and I love getting the morning started with a sweat, but haven’t been able to do that in years. So so thankful for that!
Two: I bought myself some liquid chalk markers!
I have been coveting these all summer and finally had a chance to go to Michael’s on my own. (That is not a store I enjoy going to with my kids. I need to be able to think as I ponder colours and brands.) Now I have both the supplies and a l’il play time during the day to exercise my creative muscle! The chalkboards were also on sale so I bought one which I plan to put up in the kitchen to keep the Jaffer 5 organized. With my liquid chalk markers, of course. Because nothing tells you what to do and when to do it like bright neon colours!
Three: I drank something green!
This morning I made a greens drink for the first time in…oh, I’d say a couple years at least. I stopped drinking my greens during my last pregnancy because they wouldn’t stay down anyway and I’m finally back into it. I remember a time when I felt like my day hadn’t started without all that good chlorella and whatnot. Cheers to doing things for me and having a little more balance in my life!
How about you? What have you been up to today? Have you done something for yourself? I’d love to hear in the comments!
Good for you for getting your step on, I love step too! Those chalk markers look awesome and you’ll have to share some of your favourite green drink recipes. I’ve never had much success. Happy to have yo linking up to 3 Things Thursday 🙂
Thanks, Salma! Feels good to be ‘back on track’ with #3ThingsThursday. They really are fun posts to write! I won’t make it to step this week because I have a mani/pedi booked but hopefully I’ll get to Zumba instead!
good for you! don’t feel guilty about putting your little one in part-time daycare. i’m sure she loves the socialization. busy moms always need a break! i hope you are inspired and creative with your new found time.
Thank you! Yes, she does crave the company of other kids – she constantly names her siblings’ friends as though she is asking where they are. Now hopefully she can have her own little friends. And this week I have a haircut and mani/pedi booked in, so all in all things are looking up 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
It sounds like you’re having some fun, and you sure deserve that. I’m happy for you. You’re making a happier, more creative YOU. Peace!
Thank you, Jeanne – you are so right! And a happier, more creative me = a happier, more creative mom. I think it’s a good deal all around! This week I have some more self-care lined up. Wednesdays and Thursdays are proving to be awesome lol
Haha. Drinking your greens reminds me of a drink I had in the 70s called, Via Vita – Green greens of the Earth. It was horrible. I hope yours is nicer.
Wish I could look after that cutie pie. She could crawl all over my computer. But I understand your need for free time. Bless you both.
Hi Francene! My greens drink goes down fairly well! It has some berries in it which probably helps. And awwww, thank you for your kind words about my girl. She really is super cute and now that she is imitating us a lot and saying more words she is quite entertaining! Hope you have a beautiful day <3
